Warning: This subject may be triggering for those sensitive to WWII.
I was going through a cartoon selection trying to find the one Mom had requested. I came across this one and my mind immediately flashed back to WWII.
I don't know if I was a soldier or a civilian but it was as if I were seeing it through the viewer's eyes. There were broken poles and wire everywhere. It looked like the place could've been bombed out or something similar.
"I" looked up to see a person taking a running leap to leap over the wire. Two other soldiers were giving their companion a boost. They gave too much of a boost and he went sailing on over and landed flat on his face. They were all American soldiers.
It reminded me of when I was a kid and I was going through my Mom's books. I came across her WWII in photographs book and flipped it open. Upon seeing the picture of Hitler I was terrified. I had no idea who he was but I knew he was a very bad person. I was about three or four. I screamed and slammed the book shut before kicking it away from me.
Mom came running in and asked me what was wrong. I pointed at the book and said there was a "bad man" in there. She nodded a little and said "Hitler was a very sick man." She didn't say anything else but put the book back on the shelf.
So now I'm wondering if I was there on one side or the other. It would explain a huge break I took between lives.
There's a room, very dark with very dark red curtains hanging. There's a lamp hidden behind each curtain and where the light hits there's a streak of red the color of blood.
I heard the words "I don't like the man. He looks at me."
Edited to add: I thought of this too. While I don't have any marks or scar tissue on my arms I can't stand having the underside of my arms touched or have anything tight around them.
I hate asking the question but I've got to know if I was there in WWII....
