It's the Season of the Witch. Images of Green skinned ugly nosed hags/witches are seen as funny. But do you know the Origins of the Green skinned Broken Nosed ugly hag?Well it Originated during the inquisition or "Burning times". When a woman was thought to be a Witch she was beaten by men untill her face was unrecognizable. Green and Blue bruising,Broken Nose, disfigured features then they would take the woman and drag her thrue town for all to see with her broken nose and bruised skin. To shame her and make a example of her for the other women. Later it was seen as a Joke or something to make fun out of. So next time you see a child or person dressed in hag makeup remember the pain that was sufferd from the women who came before us. There pain there sadness there abuse, Think why this image is even allowed today in our politcally correct society. Have to admit its food for thought Blessed be my sisters.

I didn't know that part of history. What a tragic thing too! Those poor women!

Gypsy, So well said Sis!!! Far to many people just do not know things such as these. But to be fair about it, these are also things that are NOT reveled in history books or even on the Salem Witch tours. You would think that, if it was going to be brought up... that would be the place, right??! Far to often, shame is silent!!! It is good to shine a light on the forgotten and educate as many people as we can!!! Thank You for sharing your wisdom with us once again!!! I LOVE YOU SIS!!! Blessed Be!!! Shonee
