This is a very popular alleged game.
The origins are not exactly known but it is a very old "game" to play.
Bloody Mary is anything from a vengeful ghost to an evil woman. She has been claimed to have been a woman burned at the stake during the Salem witch trials to Mary Tudor to a woman named Mary Worth. For the record no one was burned at the stake during the Salem witch trials. The poor individuals were hung and one man was pressed to death beneath a pile of stones.
Oddly enough from the Victorian era on back young women believed if on Hallowe'en if she went to the mirror with a candle she would see the face of her future husband. Another version is the young woman would look into the fire. But that's all another story.
Mary I of England is known by history as "Bloody Mary." The name became attached to her when she had people killed for heresy.
She never had children and had two phantom pregnancies.
The game is also linked to Elizabeth Bathory who had young women killed so she could drink and bathe in their blood.
Mary Worth was believed to have been a woman who dabbled in the black arts. She was discovered and executed during the Salem witch trials. However, there was no Mary Worth involved in the trials.
Another variation is summoning a woman who killed her children with a pair of scissors and then impaled herself in the neck in the 1700's.
There are many variations of how to summon the vengeful spirit. One of the most common is going into the bathroom with a candle and chanting a number of different things.
It is also rumored that doing this can also summon demonic entities that will appear all around the individual.
There are many things that are claimed to have happened. A person with psychic abilities that they may not even know that they have can find a number of scary things happen. This spirit or evil woman is not nice. Once the door is open there is any number of bad things that can happen.
The most common things that are claimed to have happened are
All paranormal aside, please do not force someone to play this "game."
There are documented stories of people suffering psychological trauma from having been forced into a dark bathroom and not being let out until they go through with the deed.
This can cause trauma for individuals so that they can not be around mirrors or in restrooms of any kind.
From this I speak from experience.
When I was seven I was shoved into a tiny and dark bathroom by ten and eleven year old girls. Laughing they told me they wouldn't let me out until I played "Bloody Mary" by myself.
I never did and my screams for help were heard by a teacher who chased the girls off and set me free. For months after that I would not go into a dark bathroom and I would cover up every mirror in the rooms I went into.
With proper help at a young age I was able to get past the short term trauma but there are some that never do.
