I just wanted to talk a little about Witches because there are many misconceptions that comes about when we hear the word Witch or Witchcraft.
Witches do not worship Satan or a Devil.
Celtic Paganism and Witchcraft is much older then the Christian views of God and the Devil.
That sort of concept is completely foreign to most Witches because Witches in general do not believe in "Pure Evil" or "Pure Good" but a balance of all things. Now some Witches like myself can individually believe in Negativity or Positive spirits. But that view is a individual concept and not widely recognized by Witch practitioners in general.
The concept of Witches making deals with the Devil for powers or Magicks is complete nonsense.
Wiccans and Witches are both Pagan but not the same.
Wiccanism is a religion Witchcraft is a Practice, Wicca is based on a Nature Worship type of paganism was started by Gerald Gardener in 1954 in southern England he published a book called "Witchcraft Today" in which he reconstructed and rewrote some Rituals and Sabbats and beliefs and lore connected to Witches.
A few authors have argued that Gardner invented the rites and rituals of the Wiccan religion combining elements of known ancient religions and Occultism .
So in theory it is based on Paganism and Occultism and some Witch type rituals but not the same..
Witchcraft is a way of life and a practice not just a religion its a combination of lore and beliefs that has been passed down from generations to generations., does not have to involve deities. Instead, it is combining occult rituals and paganism's with the use of spells and herbs to achieve a desired end–healing, love, protection, etc
But most of the time Witches will call upon a Deity or Celebrate a Deity.
Some Witches say Witchcraft is there religion but in fact Witchcraft is a Practice not a belief so I think some might get confused with this. I am a "Pagan Celtic Gypsy and Pictish Witch" meaning I believe in the Celtic Pagan gypsy ways and I am a practitioner of Magick.
What is Magick? Well some believe it is similar to a prayer minus the asking part and adding some doing yourself. Prayer is asking something or someone for something.
Magick,Spell Craft. The belief that supernatural forces can be controlled, influenced and manipulated by executing a ritualistic formula, either physical or verbal
So spell craft or Majick is based on intent and purpose,Summoning or focusing of energy then projecting that energy towards a goal. Personally I also add a prayer for good measure.
I hope this adds some clarity and insight on this type of beliefs Thank you
